Nicole and Rick – a beautiful Spring day at Montelucia

One Fine Day Photography’s Doug Williams always performs magic when he’s got a camera in his hands. We’re so lucky to have him as part of our team. On a beautiful Spring day at Scottsdale’s beautiful Montelucia, he photographed a very special wedding. The wedding of Rick and Nicole. Nicole is so genuine and special. By profession, she saves and retrains horses without homes. Personally, I find her to be the type that can be “friends for life”… such a great couple. Rick and his guys looked so handsome tuxes with tails. The decorations – linens – candles -everything was so beautiful. Gorgeous flowers were provided by Diana at Table-Tops. And what a joy to have Ray the DJ present as well! Congratulations Rick and Nicole!

Mark & Mary, Hyatt Gainey Ranch Resort wedding

Mark and Mary are so special.    When I first met them, they were somewhat quiet and reserved.     But when they flew me to Los Angeles in the Spring for an engagement photo shoot and we had so much fun – they were a blast.    And their wedding on May 15th was equally as special.     We started at the home of Mary’s parents Hany and Mona – they were the sweetest. Then it was off to the church – St George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Paradise Valley. An Antiochian Orthodox wedding is so unique, colorful and filled with tradition.  After the ceremony we headed to the Hyatt Gainey Ranch Resort for an amazing reception that included lots of traditional dancing, performances and very touching speeches.  We hadn’t been to the Hyatt in about a year and we’d forgotten how beautiful the property was. The grand ballroom – set for a group of more than 300 – was absolutely spectacular. Congratulations Mark and Mary!!  You are the best!

One Fine Day Photography’s new video intro!

I had the pleasure of meeting Carl Anderson of Princess Bride Video in January and I shared a vision with him about a video-intro I wanted to create for the One Fine Day Photography website.    His team came along to a few weddings and one of our teaching workshops and did the filming, while Carl himself mastered the editing projected.  It is short, sweet, simple and very creative.    Thank you Princess Bride video!!

And here it is!

I loved Dilee! Such a sweet girl. And what a special story. Born and raised in Mexico, she made her way on to the Mexico Olympic team as a synchronized swimmer and when her team training funds dried up, she moved to Tucson to train. Now as a pro, she is working on Johnny Depp’s latest adventure in Hawaii (the latest in his series of Pirates of Carribean movies). I guess those underwater scenes require real “pro” swimmers. Married a year ago, Dilee and her groom Paul found a local Tucson photographer (a community college student) and were not happy with their wedding pictures, so decided to do a reshoot with my friend Gina and I. It was, of course, our pleasure to oblige.

Cori & Matt’s beautiful day

When I arrived on the property at the gorgeous Sanctuary Resort, Cori’s feet with about 8 inches off the ground – she was so excited about her wedding day. Her “perma-grin” was quite genuine… she was thrilled! As was her groom Matt. There were so many favorite moments throughout the day, but one of my favorites was the butterfly release. Sometimes butterflies don’t always cooperate when being released from their temporary little triangle shaped boxes, but these butterflies took flight an filled the sky at the moment Matt and Cori kissed at the end of their beautiful ceremony. The flowers were exceptionally beautiful that day – provided by Table Tops in Scottsdale. And we were accompanied by one of the best videographers I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with – Serendipity Videography. And it was great catching up with DJ Matt Mancini with Music Doctors. Congratulations Matt and Cori!
