Annie & Matt’s beautiful Sanctuary wedding

Annie and Matt were so much fun! They reminded me of me (Annie) and my own brother (Matt). They both had so much fun with their wedding party. After their big reveal moment, the sun was shining and created some beautiful opportunities for great pictures. The ceremony setting – including the Hupa were gorgeous thanks to Avant Guard Flowers. Two very memorable (and adorable) people at the wedding were the grandparents. And it was great working with Serendipity Videography and SKM’s DJs. Congratulations Annie and Matt!

A great day at Orange Tree Resort

Tatum and Noah wanted to be totally traditional and not see each other before their wedding ceremony. I always value a bride and groom’s decision to keep with this tradition, but at the same time, I want every couple to have as much possible day light (and time) for their wedding photos as possible. In this case, we were facing a 6:20 sunset and a 5:30 wedding, and I knew that meant that the couple would be racing against sundown as soon as their ceremony was over. Pictures after dark just aren’t quite the same. Daylight gives a photographer so many more options… shadows, light, drama. The couple kept their tradition and saved that moment when they first saw each other (on Febraury 26th at the Scottsdale’s beautiful Orange Tree Resort) for “walk up the aisle.” After the ceremony with only 20 minutes of light left, me and my team (Jim and Ally) scrambled around this beautiful golf course property and got really creative with what light we had left. In the end, we were very happy with the photos we captured – but as a bonus, we asked Noah and Tatum if they wanted to be our “model” couple at our March 14th teaching workshop and they said yes. So ultimately, Noah and Tatum got beautiful pictures on their wedding day, and then got to play dress up and got more pictures with beatiful daylight. I love a happy ending!!

Sara and John’s beautiful wedding

Driving to the wedding on Saturday, February 20th I was worried for our bride and groom Sara and John. It was raining pretty hard in the morning and I had my fingers crossed that the skies would clear over Scottsdale’s beautiful Sanctuary Resort. I arrived to find one of my favorite videographer’s Daniel Wagner setting up his cameras. Like magic, the sky cleared at the exact moment we were to start taking pictures. It stayed clear right up to the moment the couple were saying their vows. The clouds rolled in and it didn’t start raining again until the ceremony was over. The good news was that most of the pictures had already been taken. Even better news, it cleared again in time for some beautiful sunset photos. After the sunset – time to party! Always a pleasure working with Ray the DJ! What a great night – congratulations Sara and John!!

A beautiful day at Villa Siena

Heather and Jason came from “windy city” Chicago to be married in near-perfect February weather at the beautiful Villa Siena in Gilbert, AZ. What made this wedding so special (among so many other things) were the bride’s vows. Not only to her groom Jason, but special vows to his little 3 year old son. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Congratulations Heather and Jason!
